Where Franschhoek
The experience Five cottages offer a relaxed retreat at this boutique Franschhoek wine farm, owned by Swedish couple Richard and Julie Parkfelt. The original workers’ quarters and stables have been stylishly renovated into self-catering lodgings, all with indoor fireplaces, chic interiors, fully equipped kitchens (including Nespresso coffee machines) and private verandahs. Two riverside family cottages sit under oak trees near a pear orchard; a Scandi-style cottage with a hot tub sits beside the merlot vineyard; and two semi-detached cottages make the most of the mountain views. It’s a tranquil country setting, yet just a five-minute drive from the town centre with its many galleries, shops and restaurants.
