Le coin Français: R595 for 7 courses

Art on a plate and a superb all-around fine-dining experience is the hallmark of Le coin Français on Franschhoek’s main drag. Owner Darren Badenhorst and head chef Miguel de Caries take diners on a nostalgic food journey of flavours, textures and interactive creations with a wealth of technique, a touch of theatre, sustainably sourced ingredients and excellent wine pairings. The winter special menu is vintage Le coin – impeccable in every detail, with many highlights over seven courses, including a venison tartare and tataki… layered with pickled shimeji mushrooms, beetroot and roast fig; and Hibachi grilled sea bass with pickled tomatoes and a caramelised white bean purée. And there’s a roaring fire keeping things toasty.
