Penhill Farm Winter Accommodation Special: 20% Off
An idyllic winter farm escape for the whole family.
By Inside Guide • July 02, 2025
A slice of history and slow Karoo living, Penhill Farm dates back to the days of the Dutch East India Company, when it was a refreshment station for ox wagons heading to Swellendam. A charming winter country escape, the farm is an oasis of green tucked into the rugged fynbos-clad hills of the Nuy Valley between Worcester and Robertson. The historic Cape Dutch Manor House and four farm cottages have been luxuriously restored, set among lovingly tended gardens and emerald lawns to evoke the essence of old-world country elegance.

With swimming pools and farm dams (to dip, canoe and fish in), mountain trails to explore on foot or mountain bike over 700 hectares, a tennis court, croquet and boules, as well as hot tubs to soak in and a roaring fire to cosy up beside and play board games, there’s plenty to keep the whole family happily engaged for days. The cottages and Manor House are fully set up for self-catering, but you’ll also want to experience the on-site Cellars Restaurant, famed for its seasonal long-table feasts.
Winter special

Penhill is just as much a delight to explore in winter as it is in summer, promising active days on the trails, tennis courts or croquet lawn, followed by cosy nights tucked up beside a fire or soaking in a hot tub under starry skies. And the winter special price includes a delicious country breakfast to set you up for the day.
