St James Homestead Accommodation Special: Sleeps 12 Adults By the Sea

St James Homestead Accommodation Special: Sleeps 12 Adults By the Sea

Superb sea views in the heart of St James’ historic promenade.

Cape Dutch gables and wide views over False Bay at Homestead Villa take you back to the Victorian-era St James when it was a prosperous seaside resort, and the long history of colourful owners who once called this beautiful villa home. Set back from the road and backed by rugged mountain slopes, it’s the ideal base from which to explore – on foot – the happening village vibe and tidal pools of St James and neighbouring Kalk Bay.

St James Homestead Exterior

The Homestead was bought and renovated as one of three St James properties by Rohan and Anthea Vos, owners of Rovos Rail, when back in 2009 they chose to add guesthouses to their luxury-travel portfolio. They renovated them with the same sense of history that made such a success of their classic railway operation.

Now only available as an exclusive-use villa, The Homestead’s six spacious suites and expansive living areas are a blissfully comfortable refuge from Cape Town’s city bustle, but close enough to rejoin it at will.

St James Homestead is offering year-long special rates on exclusive-use villa rentals booked through Inside Guide. The villa sleeps up to 12 adults comfortably.

While you’re there

St James Homestead View

A tiered garden behind the villa climbs up the mountainside; on one level is a child-friendly fenced-in pool with loungers; and on the top level is a deck with a table and chairs and a built-in braai. Make sure you have binoculars handy as pods of whales and dolphins are known to visit False Bay during winter and spring. Rail enthusiasts can watch infrequent trains pass on the railway that runs along the coastline.

St James Homestead Setting

Walk across the road to Dangers Beach and either Dalebrook or St James tidal pools, with its iconic colourful beach huts, for a morning dip. Then meander through the cafes, galleries and vintage shops of Kalk Bay to the harbour. Explore the rest of the Cape Peninsula by car to Simonstown, Boulders Beach and Cape Point or head into Cape Town.
