A lavish spread in an equally lavish setting.
This delightful country-style hotel in the heart of the Constantia Valley is arguably one of the loveliest spots to enjoy an indulgent high tea, no matter the season. In winter, while away the afternoon beside the fire in the elegant lounge; in spring and early autumn, the light and airy glasshouse is the ideal spot to drink in the views of the surrounding gardens and mountains beyond; and in summer, take a seat on the sunny terrace, while enjoying and an assortment of hand-crafted treats.
What’s for tea?
The tantalising tea menu is a mix of traditional and modern, and features the likes of smoked salmon and chive cream roulade; roasted sundried tomato and feta tarts; grass-fed beef and peppadew skewers; mini Thai-spiced fish cakes and bobotie spring rolls.
Those with a sweet tooth will be in their element with cupcakes, fresh fruit pavlovas, pecan-nut wedges and cream, carrot and chocolate cakes, key-lime pie, mini scones and macarons.
And, of course, what would high tea be without cucumber sandwiches? Expect finger-slim versions with cream cheese and dill; as well as coronation chicken.
The feast, naturally, is accompanied by a selection of classic and unique herbal teas, iced teas, single-origin coffees and hot chocolate. And, if you’re feeling decadent, round off your experience with a glass of bubbly or a gin cocktail – the perfect ending to a sublime afternoon at this acclaimed slice of old-school glamour in the heart of Constantia.
