When seated in the light-filled Greenhouse, on the Hohenort Terrace or under the Palm Arch (an especially charming nook on the property), it’s impossible not to let the tranquillity and beauty of the hotel’s magnificent gardens wash over you, while you enjoy an assortment of treats crafted by the pastry team.

What’s for tea?

Cellars-Hohenort High Tea Menu

The Classic High Tea menu is a tantalising and beautifully presented four-course spread designed by executive chef Tronette Dippenaar, drawing inspiration from high teas at the best hotels around the world.

It kicks off with a selection of finger sandwiches, of course – the iconic cucumber, plus salmon, goat’s cheese with roasted tomato, and a nod to local with a biltong pinwheel. The second course of savoury bites runs from quiche and foldovers to camembert panna cotta, arancini and salmon cornets.

Cellars-Hohenort High Tea Scones

From here it’s a deep, delicious dive into the sweet side of things… from warm scones with jam and Chantilly cream to cheesecake, berry-and-rose choux puffs and slices of various cakes. Think chocolate, coffee, caramel and tropical fruit.

The feast is accompanied by a selection of loose-leaf Nigiro teas, rooibos and herbal infusions. The exclusive hotel blend of green rooibos with various fruits, flowers, herbs and Liz McGrath rose petals truly conjures a sense of place. There is an option of coffee, if you prefer. In addition, a welcome glass of L’Ormarins Brut Rosé sets the tone perfectly for a sublime experience of old-school glamour in the heart of Constantia.
