A Magical Clear Kayak Experience in Cape Town

There’s an extra dimension to a kayak tour with Atlantic Adventures… owners Tyla Darcy Jones and Bruce McArthy have put Cape Town’s first fleet of clear kayaks on the water, allowing you to see underwater as you glide across the ocean at sunrise. Kelp forests, darting penguins, seals, sometimes dolphins, drift beneath you, and with the see-through hull you don’t miss a moment. Their guided tours take you out into Table Bay and, while wildlife sightings are not guaranteed (it’s a wide ocean), the marine magic always casts a spell.

Sunrise to sunset tours

Early birds can catch the enchantment of first light, when the water is often calm and dolphins are likely to be leaping. It’s a special time of day seeing the ocean wake up beneath you, and looking back to slanting sunshine gilding the city and Table Mountain on shore. Morning tours have their own magic, with fish, penguins, seals and dolphins busy about their day. Or glide out into the bay before sunset, enjoying the golden hour as the sun sinks into the ocean.

Before you paddle

Arrive before your time slot to gear up with the approved life jackets and listen to the safety briefing, then your licensed guides accompany you and the flotilla of 10 crystal-clear double kayaks out into the blue. The kayaks are stable and easy to paddle so no experience is needed.
