Librisa Spa at The Mount Nelson: A Luxury Haven

Because everybody deserves to be pampered.

The pretty pink façade and grand entrance at the Mount Nelson hint at what lies beyond its stately colonnades. Indeed, the iconic 19th-century landmark has been hosting VIPs (and making them feel special) for decades, including Sir Winston Churchill, who declared it “most excellent”.

Cradled in a lush garden at the foot of Table Mountain, the five-star property is arguably best known for its wonderfully regal high tea. But there’s a lot more to this serene oasis than cucumber sandwiches and Lapsang Souchong – not least of all its tranquil Librisa Spa.

So spa, so good

Mount Nelson Spa Specials

Housed in a heritage building on Faure Street, one of Cape Town’s first residential streets, the beautifully restored Victorian house is home to eight florally named treatment rooms, four of which are specially designed for tandem treatments. Two of the upstairs rooms have spacious balconies with magnificent views of Table Mountain. Before and after treatments, guests are invited to relax in the sun-splashed conservatory, whose comfortable loungers are hard to leave. Male and female changing rooms each have a sauna and steam bath as well as an enclosed courtyard with a heated plunge pool where guests may unwind before and after treatments.

The spa’s nurturing and holistic philosophy uses the power of touch in a variety of treatments that focus on de-stressing, anti-ageing and cell-renewal. In addition to facials, massages, body wraps, the spa offers a range of customised packages for pregnant women, teens, and so on.

Good to know Should your treatment be at least an hour, you will receive complimentary access to the hotel’s heated swimming pool where you can recline on one of the candy-striped loungers. There’s even a complimentary child-minding service for parents of young children.
