One&Only Cape Town: Chic Afternoon Tea with Superb Views

A magnificent view of Table Mountain through floor-to-ceiling windows greets you as you enter the Vista Bar & Lounge for an indulgent afternoon tea at this elegant V&A Waterfront resort. One&Only Cape Town is designed in glamorous contemporary style with lofty proportions, grand decor, a luxurious ambience (with comfortable armchairs to sink into), and the tea service lives up to the setting… The sleek, specially designed cake stands poised on marble tables are a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

Teatime treats

The characterful O&O stands arrive eye-catchingly loaded with a plethora of delicious treats: taste your way through cucumber sandwiches on seed loaf, salmon bouchées adorned with trout roe, chicken tartlets, rare roast beef on toasted brioche, savoury pea and zucchini cakes with ricotta mousse, and aloo curry bites. Tuck into scones with cream and jam for a touch of tradition. Then on the sweet side swoon over salted caramel baked cheesecake, red berry flower macaron, chocolate and orange entremet, lemon poppy seed sponge with lemon curd and meringue and passion fruit yoghurt loaf with cream cheese crémeux.

In your teacup

There’s a whole menu of fine Nigiro loose-leaf teas (including the signature African Sun blend) (as well as coffee). The good news is you don’t have to decide on just one, as the free-flowing offering allows you to move from one variety to another over the course of the afternoon (why not pair one tea with the savoury and one with the sweet treats?). Or go all out for sophisticated spoils with the elite Champagne High Tea for two, which comes with a 375ml bottle of Moët & Chandon.

Good to know A vegetarian menu is also available. Children under 10 can order from the standard Vista Lounge à la carte menu, which includes scones, cakes, pastries, muffins and cookies.
