Freewheel your way through lush winelands on an electric scooter. With the freedom that these off-road vehicles offer, you can experience South Africa’s famous wine-growing region from a different perspective, breathing in the fresh country air as you traverse dirt paths and downhill slopes. The spectacular scenery along the way is all the more invigorating, fuelled by adrenaline.
Scooter tour need-to-know info
The nonmotorised scooters are extremely stable (they’re used to navigate the slopes of the Swiss Alps during summer, after all), making them perfect for a family outing. Kids will love them, but that’s not to say adults won’t get a kick out of the experience either.
Good to know
- Equipment, and a guide, are included in the package.
- You need to be 10 years or older to ride your own scooter, and four years to join as a passenger
Scooter around Middelvlei
Don’t feel like scootering around a nature reserve? Then grab yourself a mountain scooter, and whizz through Middelvlei Wine Estate’s lush vineyards with the striking Drakenstein Mountain as your backdrop.
An open 4×4 vehicle will escort you to each section (there are three!), where you can scooter around the estate, before returning to the wine farm restaurant for a burger, chips and soda float (for the kiddies) or a delicious braaibroodjie (grilled sandwich) and a glass of wine.
