The Women’s Wellness Retreat

Designed especially for Women’s Month, this signature experience invites you to gather your friends for a morning that gives you time to connect, reflect and replenish your energies over a four-hour programme. A guided yoga session eases you gently into the day followed by a sound-healing journey, and then a guided sauna and cold plunge in the outdoor thermal suite. Then relax deeply as skilled therapists massage away tension with the 60-minute Signature Vitality Massage and Blissful Facial (30 minutes). Unwind further still in the Pool House gardens beside the heated pool, with time to quietly catch-up or just soak in the serene garden energy.

Serene self-care

The luxury spa has a varied range of holistic treatments, rituals and healing therapies in which to indulge – massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, manis and pedis – using renowned brands such as Ayurveda-led ila (exclusive to Steenberg Spa in the Cape), QMS, Bellabaci and Margaret Dabbs.

There are five indoor treatment rooms (including a couple’s room), and the secluded and enchanting Scented Garden and Secret Garden alfresco treatment areas, surrounded by flowers and greenery.

As well as romantic couples’ journeys, the spa has options for special group gatherings, as well as for tweens and teens.

Degrees of delight

Steenberg Spa’s Thermal Suite is an immersive outdoor ritual that uses the sensorial contrast of heat and cold to awaken vitality and leave you feeling utterly rejuvenated in body and mind.

In the sauna, the dry heat soothes muscles, promotes detoxing and enhances circulation. This is followed by an exhilarating Nordic ice-bucket shower, which further boosts circulation, revitalises the skin and gives you a dose of pure energy. Or you might choose a dip in the ice bath, which reduces inflammation and leaves you feeling recharged and renewed. Then it’s back to the sauna and repeat…

This hot-and-cold therapy experience is wonderful as a prelude or follow-on to other treatments. Either way, you’ll find it’s utterly addictive.

Slowing down with intention

A new menu of mindful experiences invites guests to relax even more deeply. Spend an hour in a grounding stillness and flow yoga session, reconnecting body breath and mind before your massage. Or take a guided session combining meditation, mindful awareness, breathwork and sound. The nature immersion journey takes you for a guided vineyard walk and time relaxing and absorbing nature beside the dam. There are also short 15-minute sessions of breathwork or guided meditation designed as add-ons, deepening relaxation before or after any spa experience.

Good to know Add another outdoor experience to your spa day with one of the guided walking trails, with routes for beginners, intermediate and advanced hikers.

After a treatment and mindful experience, the Pool House is the place to let all that relaxation and pampering work its way deep into your core. Soak up the sun on loungers, take a refreshing dip, and sip on cocktails, bubbly or wine while you breathe deeply and let your soul be soothed by the leafy setting. Beyond this, Steenberg estate’s magnificent gardens, restaurants and wine-tastings invite you to linger, explore and let the rest of the day go by in an unhurried scenic dream.
