Not everyone gets to be a top chef, but who says you can’t pretend to be one for a day. These hands-on cooking classes provide a fun and interactive environment for anyone to try their hand at the culinary arts.

The bonus? You’re guaranteed a fun night out, followed by a delicious dinner where participants get to enjoy their culinary creations.

Cooking classes at Stir Crazy

The classes are fun and educational and are designed for people who love and appreciate fine food and wine, discovering new cooking techniques, and testing the boundaries of culinary norms.

In addition to all that, you’ll get to learn from the best in the business; professional chefs who will impart their wealth of knowledge and experience while they demonstrate a range of recipes.

Some of the cooking experiences on offer include:

First Thursday Cooking Demo
Starting in February, the first Thursday of each month allows guests to interact with the chef of the evening, and ask questions. A glass of wine or a cocktail will welcome you on arrival, and you will be able to taste samples of all the recipes prepared during the evening.
The Demo class can include a guest speaker and tasting. The guest speaker on 6 February will be from Willow Creek Olive Estate.

Pop-Up Dinner: Valentine’s Day Edition
The pop-up dinner for February has a Valentine’s twist, with guests receiving a glass of Graham Beck bubbly on arrival. Come and enjoy a five-course gourmet meal, while you sit down, relax and watch professional chefs prepare and plate your meal. This exclusive dinner is prepared by our Superyacht Chefs who successfully completed their January course, as part of their gala dinner.

Good to know This exclusive dinner is offered once a month, which is why the menu changes each time to keep it exciting.

Kids’ Classes
Stir Crazy invites budding chefs from 8 to 12 years to learn the basics of cooking and kitchen etiquette in a safe and practical environment. The menu includes three or four savoury and sweet recipes (such as chicken pie, lasagne cups, macaroni cheese, cupcakes, banana and date loaf). Classes take place on most Saturdays.

Baking Masterclass
This is the perfect opportunity to finetune the French patisserie classics: croissants, puff pastry, choux pastry and shortcrust pastry. In addition, you’ll learn how to decorate desserts, make custard (for pasteis de nata), compotes, glazes and syrups.

Travelling Thailand
Create tantalising, signature dishes that span all regions of Thailand: from the north to the central plains to the islands – each of which is a focus area for a class.

Good to know

  • Stir Crazy hosts corporate functions, year-end functions and team-building events. One such offering is their Masterchef Teambuilding event, where you and your colleagues compete against each other.
  • The school also hosts pop-up dinner events, where a team of chefs (graduates from the school’s Superyacht Culinary Academy Course) prepare a five-course gourmet meal under the supervision of head chef Brett Nussey. Guests can sit down and relax with a drink in hand as they watch the chefs prepare and plate their meal.
  • The minimum age for participation in the general cooking classes is 12 years old.

Brand new Stir Crazy culinary theatre

Stir Crazy Cooking and Superyacht Culinary Academy have moved into the Superyacht Training Facility at the V&A Waterfront, located on West Quay Road.

The new facility offers premium, quality cooking stations that were custom-designed to be a cross between a standard home kitchen and a lifestyle training centre.
