Historic farm cottages, vineyard views and starry skies.
It’s easy to feel like part of the family at Beaumont. The down-to-earth farm setting, with views over the undulating hills and valleys of the Overberg, is home to three generations of the Beaumont family, who have created an inimitable away-from-it-all ambience that invites you to relax and unwind.
Step back in time
The farm has a long history, dating back to the 1700s. The Beaumonts arrived in 1974 and set about replanting vineyards, orchards and gardens, and restoring the 250-year-old buildings, which include one of the oldest water mills in the country.
Three farm cottages offer visitors a base for a weekend of blissful rural peace, serene views, candle-lit evenings and big, star-studded skies. Luxuriously fitted out but still authentic, with a feel of stepping back in time, the cottages are perfectly placed to kick back and relax – swimming in the farm dams, exploring the trails on foot or mountain bike, and tasting the Beaumonts’ finely crafted, minimal-intervention wines.
Delicious farm food
The cottages are self-catering but there’s no need to cook, unless you want to. The farm kitchen restaurant is the place for brunch and lunch, with a menu of seasonal, locally sourced, farm-picked dishes. It’s attached to Zest Deli, where the shelves are bursting with cheeses and charcuterie, home-baked goodies and preserves, and the freezers are filled with a tantalising range of delicious ready-to-heat meals – dinner sorted.
The lodgings
Dotted around the garden, and just a quick stroll from the tasting room, restaurant and deli, the three heritage cottages feature thick whitewashed walls, black tin roofs, shutters on the windows, wood-beamed ceilings, a mix of antique and modern decor, and open hearth fireplaces in the kitchens. Pepper Tree Cottage is perfect for two, The Mill House is great for a family of four, and The Stables accommodates a bigger group in three bedrooms – and comes with its own veggie garden.
