A private golf-estate enclave for memorable gatherings.
Overlooking the sparkling Keurbooms Lagoon and the Indian Ocean, this golf-estate residence near Plettenberg Bay offers a vacation that ticks the boxes for every family member. Just a minute’s drive from the beach, it also has a wonderful garden for games, and lots of options for alfresco dining – from sunrise coffee and lazy lunches beside the pool to sundowners and fire-grilled feasts under the stars. Not to mention a Gary Player-designed golf course on its literal doorstep.
The villa might be the size of a boutique hotel, but it has the charming sensibility of an English country cottage. Think whitewashed timber, shutter doors, floral and striped fabrics, and characterful heirloom decor (cane sofas, riempie chairs, claw-foot baths) – all surrounded by big trees, rolling lawns, flower beds, and a tea garden. It even has an east wing and a west wing, plus a boma for evenings under the stars. It’s the perfect choice for a gathering of multi-generational families, or a group of friends with young children.
Good to gather
The east and west wings flank the communal area – the heart of the home. The main lounge has views over the sea and lagoon, and leads out onto a spacious deck. There’s also a small bar area, plus a separate TV lounge. (Nostalgic retro touches include a DVD player and video machine, a Soda Stream machine and board games.)
The main dining room is a grand affair, with a long table seating 18 under rafters and a chandelier, where everyone can gather for a big meal. The spacious, all-white kitchen features a large marble island (plenty of space to whip up those feasts), three ovens (one gas), a walk-in fridge and separate pantry.
There is a second large dining table, this one outdoors beside the pool deck, with fabulous views of the sea. The pool area is the showpiece, with loungers and daybeds. And what’s a holiday without fireside cooking? In the garden is a boma for braais under the stars. Yet another option is the tea garden, with two tables under large trees.
Home from home

Each wing has four bedrooms that open out onto a verandah or balcony, with lovely views of the garden and sea.
Most of the rooms in the east wing are interleading, making this a superb compound for a large family. The rooms are configured with options: one with two double beds, three with king-size beds, plus one with a “baby room” with a single bed and cot.
The west wing’s rooms all have king-size beds, with one including a child’s bed and two with an additional twin room with a cot. This wing also has the bunk room for six younger guests (with a double bed and two bunk beds). The verandah has an eight-seater table, plus this wing also has an indoor seating area with another table for private meals.
