Onrus Beach House: A Dreamy Getaway for 10 People
Classic beach-house vibes on the Whale Coast.
By Inside Guide • 07 October 2024
Surveying the ocean and pristine, fynbos-flecked coastline from its slightly elevated position, a short walk from the shore, this holiday villa provides the perfect base for experiencing the Whale Coast.

On the quieter side of Hermanus, it provides direct access to the golden curve of Onrus Beach (regularly voted locals’ favourite) and its lagoon, plus neighbouring Sandbaai Beach and two tidal pools. If you’re yearning for a sea-soaked holiday, this is the ideal spot.
Splendid style

With its classic clapboard and stone-wall detailing, window shutters, spacious decks and balconies, the villa is exactly what you’d expect a seaside stay to look like. The calming decor palette mirrors the setting, with muted blues, greys, slate, white and pale wood. Everywhere you look, even indoors, that glorious ocean view casts a spell.

An open-plan living area provides a spacious hub for gathering and dining, leading out onto the deck where sundowners and braais will be a daily ritual. A sheltered courtyard out back, with a giant beanbag and sofa, is the perfect spot for quiet time.
Dream spaces

In a villa that sleeps 10 people, it’s important to have your own private sanctuary to escape to. The bedrooms are spaced apart, with two in the double-storey annex. The ones upstairs each have their own balcony; the downstairs rooms lead straight into the neat garden, with access to an outdoor shower.

In the annex, one bedroom has its own private lounge area, and the other has a kitchenette and TV room, creating a versatile option for multi-generational families.
