Taaibosch Garden Villa: An Intimate Winelands Hideaway

A boutique villa hideaway tucked among the vineyards and indigenous gardens of Taaibosch Wine Estate, this contemporary garden retreat makes for a wonderfully restoring Winelands escape.

Bought in 2016 by the Oddos, a French wine-making family, as their South African outpost, the boutique estate has been meticulously converted to organic farming; the superb terroir producing its renowned Crescendo blend. Taaibosch isn’t open to the public, but villa guests are offered an exclusive tour and tasting as part of their stay.

Intimate villa luxury

With two bedrooms, Garden Villa is the smallest of the three luxury villas on the estate and looks out onto lawns, indigenous plantings, terraces and vine-clad slopes with the soundtrack of birdsong and the distant sounds of the working wine farm.

As with Farsight Villa and The Manor House, this is the deluxe version of self-catering, with a chef preparing breakfast for you each day, a daily service and turndown, and a butler on hand to help as needed. The beautiful open-plan kitchen, dining and braai areas make entertaining a breeze, and there’s also the option of hiring a private chef for one or more meals, including a traditional braai or potjie.

Once you’ve hiked the mountain trails leading from the estate, the Stellenbosch Winelands is your oyster… for wine tastings, mountain-biking adventures, trail-running and hiking on the Helderberg mountain trails, restaurants and wine estates, golf, horse-riding and more. Leave time for lazy siestas by the pool, evenings playing board games, and a private tasting of the estate’s famed Crescendo limited-edition wine.
