The rural smallholdings, milkwood trees, horse paddocks and wide, sandy beaches never fail to charm visitors to Noordhoek. A special place to relax and soak up the scene is Kinghorns Gardens. Conceived, designed and decorated by owner Andreas Kinghorn, an aesthete to the nth degree, the boutique self-catering villa has two bedrooms and is surrounded by a hectare of landscaped greenery and indigenous milkwood trees, that brims with water features, a Koi fish dam, rare proteas, sculptures, organic vegetable gardens (where you can harvest your own ingredients) and other delightful discoveries.
The lodgings
A considered indoor-outdoor flow lends itself to the tranquil surrounds, where the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves set the scene for a serene retreat. While the outdoor showers and swimming pool might not appeal on winter days, the Finnish sauna with stunning views over the gardens beats the chill, and indoors open stone fireplaces in the living area and bedrooms keep you toasty. Whatever the weather the modern amenities and carefully considered furnishings ensure a sumptuous, relaxing and revitalising stay.
Its close proximity to Noordhoek Farm Village means you can take a quiet stroll down the road to a clutch of superb dining options, a coffee roastery and several shops and galleries. Or go horse-riding or for a stroll on Noordhoek’s beautiful beach, or hike a mountain trail or two. Then kick back with a book from the library in one of the many relaxation areas dotted throughout the garden, or cosy up on the sofa by the fire.
