The La Colombe family of restaurants has garnered a well-deserved reputation for exemplary dining, not only in South Africa but internationally, too. From the original flagship restaurant in the Constantia wine valley, there are now seven restaurants in the stable, the most recent of which is The Waterside, where a superb team works its magic to create an extraordinary dining experience.
Located in the Pierhead building at the V&A Waterfront, away from the bustle of the main shopping precinct, The Waterside’s easy-breezy location is the perfect setting for its casual fine-dining menu that can be enjoyed for lunch and dinner.
Land and sea
Roxy Mudie who has worked alongside La Colombe’s Scot Kirton for over seven years, is currently head chef at The Waterside. A peek at her menu reveals glorious ocean-inspired combinations – expect Cape Malay-inspired crayfish; seabass and mussels with Black Forest ham; pork belly with scallops; oysters in an spicy umami broth; and a “treasure chest” of bonbons for a sweet finish. Roxy uses the freshest available ingredients and also puts together delicious vegetarian versions on request.
