Exuding warmth for both body and soul, Fairview’s annual winter dinner series transforms the Goatshed Restaurant into the epitome of hygge: a crackling fire, underfloor heating, and some seriously good comfort food in Fairview’s inimitable farm-to-fork fashion, paired with the pick of the farm’s wines.

With the Goatshed usually only open during the day, these select dinners offer a rare opportunity to experience Fairview and its wines in convivial and cosy evening harmony. For each event, chef SJ Nel produces a different hearty and heavenly three-course menu to complement a different premium wine.

Homtini Italian Dinner

Fairview Goatshed Homtini Italian Dinner

This feast of Italian flavours and its accompanying wine is a salute to intrepid Italian silk farmers who emigrated to South Africa in the 19th century, expecting mulberry trees for their silkworms and arriving to find themselves in the mulberry-free Knysna forest. Fairview’s winemaker Anthony de Jager is one of their descendants, and named a Tuscan-style blend of sangiovese,  cab sav and merlot in their honour. SJ cooks up a storm of Italian-inspired dishes to accompany this glorious wine for a three-course feast.
