A one-off wine-paired dinner uncorking the stories of South African women in wine.
What better way to celebrate trailblazing women than to explore fabulous wines crafted by some of the Cape’s best female winemakers in an exclusive four-course wine-paired dinner. Even better when it’s in the intimate setting of One&Only Cape Town’s Isola restaurant, tucked away on the central island of the five-star V&A Waterfront resort. The evening showcases wines from four masterful winemakers (and viticulturalists), with an interactive four-course wine-paired dinner, co-hosted by resort sommelier Luvo Ntezo alongside restaurant manager Melissa Smith and assistant food-and-beverage manager Pamela Cweni.
Women in Wine
Sip on an aromatic cap classique from Melissa Genevieve Nelsen of Genevieve MCC, accompanied by canapés of Norwegian salmon tartare, freshly shucked oysters with lemon pearls and fired snoek fillet with orange and apricot. Next up is a fruity chenin blanc from Wendy Applebaum of DeMorgenzon, paired with a Cape Malay butter chicken roulade.
A renowned cabernet sauvignon from local legend Ntsiki Biyela of Aslina wines pairs beautifully with a slow-braised oxtail with creamy polenta and onions. And a naturally sweet gewurztraminer from Nongcebo Langa of Delheim beautifully complements a lemon semifreddo on almond crumble.
The specially curated menu – prepared by Isola chef Azania Mana and pastry chef Moizyll Baatjies – showcases the flavours of each wine, lending itself to a fascinating evening of flavour exploration.
With Luvo Ntezo at the table, you’ll get all the stories behind each wine, the fresh approach to vinification at each farm, insight into the varietals and the winemakers’ thought processes, bringing the whole experience to life.
A true celebration of wine, women and good food that promises to be an occasion to remember.
