Watch the glistening sun set over the Atlantic Ocean at the ocean-facing Shimmy Beach Club’s Sunday music sessions with local and international DJs.
If you’re a lover of good electronic music, you won’t want to miss this new event series at Shimmy Beach Club. With live beats from the Playground Twins and a variety of other local artists, the Shimmy Sunset Sunday sessions are the ultimate end to the last of Cape Town’s hot summer weekends.
The beats
The Playground Twins, comprising brothers Josh and Nate Swart, are well-known for their gigs at PlettRage and Cape Town 10s, and can be found behind the decks at the popular innercity club, SoCal.
Taking the opening spot of the evening is a DJ from a nonprofit DJ school in Phillipi that provides skills training to aspiring DJs in the township. So, from 4pm to 5pm on Sunday, the best-performing student of the week will kick things off – a career-starting opportunity for the students, and a highlight for event-goers who get to watch brand new talent unfold!
Expect a mix of African and bedouin-themed beats to provide the smooth soundtrack to the perfect Sunday evening sunset.
