I come to Cape Town for work at least every two months, and if I’m lucky I get to stay for more than one night. But lately I have been stuck in Joburg.

The thing I love most about the Mother City is the fact that Capetonians seem (generally) to prioritise stopping to smell the flowers. There is a daily appreciation for the things that make life enjoyable – good food, good wine, good company, beautiful things. In Joburg people work like slaves all year to be able to live like a Capetonian for a week or two at the end of the year.

I don’t have specific favourite Cape Town spots because anywhere turns into somewhere fun in Cape Town – especially in summer…

Still on my Cape Town to-do list is all that hiking, Lions Head-climbing nonsense.

My favourite area in Cape Town is the Southern Suburbs. No, really.

Cape Town beaches aren’t the best thing about Cape Town. Since I like going into the sea when I’m at the beach, which in Cape Town means hypothermia, I’m more attracted to the warm currents on the East Coast.

As much as I love visiting Cape Town, I couldn’t live there. When your mistress becomes your wife, the relationship dies.

The best book I’ve read recently is Until Julius Comes by Richard Poplak.

My favourite TV series is House of Cards.
