When owners Yolanda and Johan Holtzhausen embarked on a two-year journey to revamp Mount Babylon’s previously bare and dark tasting room into a stylish private tasting lounge, they decided to give it new life by adding an air of playful elegance – and lashings of dusty pink.
Jaw-dropping views of the surrounding Hemel-en-Aarde valley and an opulent interior, filled with velvet upholstery and blushing glossy walls, turned the previous cellar extension into an ideal sanctuary to savour neighbouring winemaker Jean-Claude Martin’s (of Creation Wines) Méthode Cap Classique.
Filled with overflowing light from the oversized windows that lead onto a wooden deck, the space seats 25 guests, while the spacious outside area accommodates 60 – the perfect place to relax, unwind, and sip world-class bubbly, of course.
This plush salon is currently only available for functions and, sadly, not open to members of the public. So, if you have a special occasion coming up, and would like to impress the pants off your guests, contact the tasting lounge to make a booking.
Food wise, the kitchen serves several courses, each paired with the estate’s delicious MCC Brut Shiraz – which was, in fact, the inspiration for the blushing pink interior.
Opening times Monday – Saturday, 10pm – 5pm
