Taste the flavours of Cape Town.
The rich flavours and colours of Cape Malay cuisine have come to the V&A Food Waterfront, with this new stall in the vibrant dockside district. The latest project of chef-entrepreneur Ammaarah Petersen, Cape Malay House gives hungry locals and curious out-of-towners a delicious and authentic taste of one of The Mother City’s signature cuisines.
Made in Malaysia
Cape Malay cuisine epitomises Cape Town’s diversity and fusion of cultures. And, here, you’ll be spoilt with choices such as the masala steak baguette, butter chicken with basmati rice, the Cape Malay curry salomie, and samoosas with a variety of fillings, including cumin chicken and roasted butternut.
Chef Ammaarah’s passion for food, cultivated from an early age, led her to stints at a string of hotels and restaurants, culminating in the launch of her food-services company HotChefs. She’s rated as one of the Top 5 halaal chefs in Cape Town, so Muslim customers can rest assured that all her dishes are permissible. Vegetarians will also feel at home here, with a variety of nonmeat dishes on offer. Her flair and flavour shine through in every single one of her dishes.
The bustling V&A Food Market, with its array of cuisines, is an appropriately colourful location for Ammaarah’s vibrant dishes. Guests can enjoy the high-energy atmosphere of the market, while tucking into a roti packed with tasty ingredients, prepared by friendly and passionate student chefs.
If you’re looking for a unique Cape Town food experience, make sure to try out this tasty spot.
