The Cellars-Hohenort: A Leafy New Look for The Conservatory Restaurant

Cellars Hohenort Conservatory: Decor

An oasis of forest tranquillity among the camphor trees.

The gorgeous gardens and woodlands at Cellars-Hohenort are very much part of the appeal of this Constantia Winelands grande dame. It’s always been a special place to take time out from city life, unwind and share memorable meals with family and friends. Now that The Conservatory Restaurant and Terrace has re-opened after a gorgeously fresh refurbishment of the restaurant, bar, terrace and lounge, you’re even more immersed in a woodland ambience of serene dappled light and leafy freshness.

A leafy new look

Cellars Hohenort Conservatory: Interior

The magnificent camphor trees and gardens are reflected in a beautifully whimsical new look created by HotCocoa Interiors & Design. It’s richly layered, from the delicately leafy branches and skies painted across the ceilings to the gorgeous greens in the upholstery, and the indoor plants. With floor-to-ceiling views of the trees outside, you feel airily suspended in the caress of the forest, a natural oasis of calm.

A new menu

Cellars Hohenort Conservatory: Food

A new lunch and dinner menu reflects the fresh new look, continuing The Conservatory’s commitment to seasonal local produce, simple but elevated cuisine and beautiful presentation. Think poached tempura prawns with hot vermicelli noodles, coriander, sweet chilli sauce and spring onion, or seared beef carpaccio with roasted beetroot, a raspberry reduction and seasonal berries for starters. Followed by Klein Karoo rack of lamb with potato fondant and salsa verde, or a traditional Cape Malay bobotie with steamed white rice, minted pea samosa, cumin roti and sambals.

The menu is designed to be flexible, so you can relax over three indulgent courses, or pop by for a straightforward Chalmar beef burger, a simple steak or grilled linefish.
