The CBD’s only interactive Korean-fusion braai.

At home, we call it braaivleis or tshisa nyama, but further afield it’s more commonly known as a barbeque. Whatever you call it, nothing beats the taste of meat cooked on open flames. Enter Coenraad Groenewald and Louis Smit, owners of Galbi restaurant, who brought the Korean barbecue concept to the Mother City. The unique menu is inspired by both Korean and South African cuisines, but what we love most is that you get to cook your order at your table!
Hugely popular in Korea, galbi or galbi gui refers to a variety of grilled dishes made with marinated beef or pork short ribs in a ganjang-based (Korean soy) sauce. Mzansi flair is added to the mix with game, chicken and vegetable dishes, flavoured with special-recipe marinades, and served with a variety of enticing side dishes such as sweet-potato fries, pear wedges with prosciutto and mint, baked tofu, garlic bread and summer salads.
Order a variety of tapas off the Raw & Ready To Grill menu and add your choice of sides (the selection is huge!). Or try one of the Galbi Sets – a variety of platters for two. Each table features a small grill where diners can interactively cook their own fillet, rump and kudu. There’s also a bar that serves Korean specialities if you’re looking for an all-round oriental experience, as well as local favourites.
Insider tip Halaal options with beef, chicken and lamb are also available.
