Buzzing with the flavours of Athens on Sea Point’s Regent Road.
A vibey new addition to Regent Road in Sea Point, Kiki does for Greek food what sister restaurant Ariel does for Italian: putting a contemporary spin on the delicious flavours of Athens and the Greek riviera. Whitewashed walls and blue-glazed tiles, terracotta pots, wavy-lined mirrors and banquettes, candles on the tables and plates on the walls… the décor conjures up a homely Greek taverna overlaid with a patina of contemporary comfort. And the bar adds a pantheon of creative cocktails to the mix and is already creating a stir.
Mediterranean meze
Chef Scott Walker re-interprets the flavours he explored on his recent Greek odyssey in authentic style with a modern twist. Served in sharing plate style, on the menu you’ll find meze such as fava (a bean dip), tzatziki and tirokafteri (spicy feta and red pepper) to be scooped up with pita bread. Then there are dolmades, fried halloumi, Greek potatoes, keftedes (meatballs) spanakopita and more, followed by meat dishes such as kleftiko (lamb shoulder, kavouri (Alaskan crab linguine) and chargrilled fish.
A sweet conclusion
Nectar for the gods.. or rather the dessert menu, riffs on treats such as loukamades (Greek doughnuts drizzled with chocolate sauce and pistachio), portokalopita (a citrus cake with caramelised phyllo, pistachio and olive oil ice cream) and grilled nectarines with greek yoghurt and honey.
With a vibe to equal its sister restaurants, Kiki has been buzzing since the day it opened.
