Part of a chain of more than 30 restaurants across the globe – from Malibu to Monte Carlo, Milan and Moscow – all co-owned by Robert de Niro and masterchef Nobu Matsuhisa, the Cape Town branch doles out exquisite, delicious and beautifully presented food that will send your tastebuds to Kyoto and back.

Fresh, inviting

Gastronomically speaking, the dazzling array of inventive Japanese-Peruvian dishes are made using the best-quality local fish and produce available, which is blatantly evident in every single plate that comes out of the kitchen.

As for the interiors, the double-volume space is sleek and sophisticated, with a swanky backlit bar adding textural interest. The service, too, is out of the top-drawer – the perfect setting for a special night out.

Nobu Cape Town Vegetarian and Vegan Menu

Nobu’s chefs have recently introduced a vegan and vegetarian omakase menu of six courses each. Typical in Japan, omakase is a set selection of dishes chosen by the chef, intended to give diners a little taste of everything.

On the vegetarian set menu
First course Crispy rice with avocado and butternut purée
Second course Baby spinach salad with dried miso
Third course Sushi selection with vegetable consommé
Fourth course Daikon steak with vinegar miso and quinoa salsa
Fifth course Mushroom and vegetable toban yaki (roasted in a ceramic plate) with anticucho (Peruvian sauce of ground oregano, spices and vinegar)
Sixth course Nobu cheesecake with strawberry and yuzu sorbet

On the vegan set menu
First course Shimeji mushroom, red pepper and baby marrow tacos
Second course Field greens with matsuhisa (soy sauce and rice vinegar dressing)
Third course Sushi selection with vegetable consommé

Fifth course Potato and lentil rosti with mushroom and yuzu truffle dressing
Sixth course Seasonal fruit cobbler with coconut sorbet

Nobu One&Only Omakase Menu

Should you feel like ordering individual items from the à la carte menu, you’re welcome to do so! Our favourites include the spicy edamame, new-style salmon sashimi, beef tenderloin, teriyaki yellowtail jalapeño and a dry-miso whitefish dish.
