Belly of the Beast lures you into an industrial-modern space that’s cool yet cosy, with an alternative playlist to match. The intrigue is heightened because there’s no menu and you won’t know what you’re getting until it arrives at the table. There might be braaied venison tataki, fish with a curry sauce, pap and vleis… or something else completely. The only thing you can be sure about is that it will be a generous sequence of dishes that co-owners Neil Swart and Anouchka Horn and head chef Odette Olivier are excited by… Homely flavours, unusual seasonal ingredients (sustainably sourced) and winter’s rich slow-cooked fare and deep sauces that create an indulgent gastronomic experience of the highest standard.
