Die Stoep Winter Lunch Special: R295 for 3 Courses

There’s a relaxed homely feel to the modest century-old thatched manor house at Vriesenhof.  Newly open to the public (since rugby and winemaking legend, Jan “Boland” Coetzee, retired last year), the homestead has been sensitively converted into a tasting room and restaurant. It’s a place for relaxed shared plates cooked over open flames and paired with the estate wines in time-honoured Vriesenhof tradition.
The ever-changing winter lunch special offers mouthwatering choices at each of three courses, such as: mussel, leek and saffron soup with warm ciabatta; an onion tartlet with mascarpone; or pork terrine with watercress and sourdough melba for starters. Then a market fish pie; hanger steak with chimichurri and thick-cut chips; or wood-baked aubergine and goat’s cheese Parmigiana. The dark chocolate for dessert is a bomb… Or go for apple and blackberry crumble or a cheese board. Alongside their current vintages, they will also be pouring some older vintage chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon by the glass.
