Downstairs from Grub & Vine is a cocktail and live-music lounge that adds another dimension to a night out in the Mother City. Regularly hosting top local musicians, you can toe-tap to top-brass beats while enjoying a delectable array of dishes from Grub & Vine’s kitchen. As for the cocktails, named after perennially cool jazz artists, they’re utterly sippable. This winter, there’s a dinner special that showcases seasonal flavours in chef Matt Manning’s refined bistro style. We’re talking canapés of bacon and potato croquettes with chilli mayo; and trout tartare topped with chive crème fraîche and sesame seeds. A comforting leek and potato soup follows, served with crispy potatoes, coconut-toasted sunflower seeds, and warm pesto bread. For mains, choose between classic beef Wellington with a winter vegetable assiette, potato rosti and beef jus; or rich mushroom risotto paired with variations of mushroom, water chestnuts, and Parmesan. Dessert is an optional extra should blueberry bakewell or cinnamon and apple crumble tempt you.
