About the restaurant Lanzerac is famed for many things – not least of all its breathtaking vistas (of vineyards and mountains) and for being the home of the world’s first bottled pinotage! Taphuis, the casual eatery in the bar area, has a wonderfully rustic feel, with a wood-beamed ceiling, handcrafted bar and brick floors, where guests can enjoy an array of flavourful dishes, either inside by the fire, or on the terrace.
Until end-September 2019, you might like to take advantage of the three-course lunch special on offer. Starters include sharing plates of BBQ skaapstertjies (sheep tails); Caesar lettuce wedges and maple and mustard roast baby carrots. The main course is a choice of glazed pork belly served with chardonnay mash, roast apple, burnt onion, pork scratchings and cabbage pickle; or Cape Malay-spiced and ginger beer-battered hake with basil crushed peas, sweet potato, orange aioli and golden beet atchar.
