The Pool Bar at Cape Grace: Alfresco Dining + Cocktails
Languid summer days of serene poolside bliss.
By Inside Guide • 17 November 2025
When you’re craving the French Riviera or the Amalfi coast, without hopping on a plane, The Pool Bar at Cape Grace delivers Mediterranean vibes with views through a sheltering wall of arched windows over the yacht marina to Signal Hill and Table Mountain. Open to day visitors as well as guests staying at the iconic hotel, it’s a not-to-be-missed Cape Town summer spoil. With comfortable sun loungers around an azure swimming pool and a well-furnished bar along one side it has the feel of a self-contained ocean liner about to set sail… the seagulls swooping overhead only add to the illusion.
Sunshine days

Sophisticated but oh-so-chilled, the pool deck is a beguiling place to while away a summer afternoon. Lie back on your sun lounger with an iced cocktail for a catch-up conversation with friends, or curl up with a book in between cooling dips in the sparkling waters of the heated 10m swimming pool. The dedicated pool staff serve drinks, snacks and fresh alfresco meals as you lounge on the sun deck or settle into a shady spot under an umbrella.
Poolside serves

The Cape Grace bartenders are known for mixing up a mean margarita, and the pool bar is no exception. From the Protea Pineapple Paloma to the Cosmo Mule, they’re also pretty as a picture. The mocktails too. Or if you’re rocking the healthy vibes, there’s a green juice spritz or a grapefruit pine twist. Of course you could just chill with an ice bucket of bubbly by your side, it is summer after all.
Lunch and snacks by the pool

From the chefs behind Heirloom (Cape Grace’s signature restaurant) the pool menu puts a gourmet spin on fresh summer eating. Refresh with chilled Saldanha Bay oysters, or share a lavish seafood platter; tuck into roast camembert with fresh figs and bruschetta, or a cured Franschhoek trout salad. Or refuel after swimming your laps with a hearty ribeye steak, a Cubano club sandwich, or the Abalobi fish of the day with puttanesca sauce and salad. Of course there’s freshly made gelato and fruit sorbet too, for anytime treats.

Sophisticated summer days sorted!
