Settle into your private helicopter at the V&A Waterfront and be whisked away into another world of luxury. Get a birds’ eye view of the Cape Peninsula as you fly along its spectacular coastline and take a flip around Cape Point, maybe spotting whales or dolphins along the way, your pilot pointing out the highlights as he flies. And then your destination, a secluded mountainside within a pristine private nature reserve above Misty Cliffs and Scarborough.
Fynbos landscapes
Start by exploring the trails of Baskloof Nature Reserve with your guide. An easy 20-minute climb to the top of Platberg gives breathtaking views over Misty Cliffs to the ocean. Owners Danielle and Ivan Harris have spent the last 40 years restoring the mountainside into a pristine fynbos reserve where you feel totally away from it all and at one with nature. The Cape floral kingdom is especially magical in winter and spring with flowering pops of colour, but intriguing all year with a multitude of plant species found nowhere else in the world.
Gourmet picnic
A gourmet picnic set up among the fynbos is your cue to sit down, unwind and soak up the scents and wild tranquillity of the mountain. The menu (designed according to your dietary requirements) features South African flavours, fresh salads in glass jars, decadent bakes and treats. Toast each other with a vibrant sauvignon blanc from nearby Cape Point Vineyards, the bouquet pervaded by hints of fynbos to suit the scene. Or pop a bottle of cap classique for some celebratory bubbles.
After lunch at your leisure, it’s time to climb back aboard for a spectacular return flight along the coastline to Cape Town.
