Sip and swirl some wine bar Culture in the Southern Suburbs this summer.
There’s a vin-tastic new pop-up to explore upstairs from Grub & Vine Norval…. Sharing the same fabulous views (but even better) over the mountains and sculpture gardens of the Norval Foundation, the pop-up bar brings all the relaxed wine-focussed sipping of Matt Manning’s Culture to the Southern Suburbs for the summer. Tables along the balcony, a deep burgundy lounge area and bar, relaxed ambience and a 200-strong wine list, it’s a place to stop by for a glass of wine (and a bite to eat) on any occasion.
A global selection
“As we have done with Culture at the TimeOut Market Cape Town,” says Matt, “we wanted to bring those in the area a taste of what our flagship Culture Wine Bar on Bree Street offers, both in terms of the diversity and quality of our wine list.”
He’s picked out a selection of 200 wines featuring South Africa’s top producers (with a special focus on wines from neighbouring Constantia estates) and, as he does at Culture on Bree Street, includes some fine international wines: “From Burgundy to Beaujolais; and from Tasmanian bubbles to Tinta Barocca; we will continue to offer SA wines alongside the world’s best, demonstrating just how well they measure up,” Matt says.
Tasting flights
You can pop in just for a glass of pre-dinner bubbly, a glass of wine and a snack after work, or settle in to explore one of the several tasting flights on offer, perhaps with the addition of paired canapés.

A bite to eat
A small plates menu of bar snacks balances out the wine nicely, and should you not feel inclined to move downstairs to a table at Grub & Vine for dinner, you can order from the full menu and have it served upstairs, staying settled into the convivial wine bar ambience all evening.
