Important note Although the Cape is rich in natural beauty, tourists and locals alike are urged to take necessary precautions when exploring secluded areas, as crimes and accidents do happen.
Those venturing into the Table Mountain National Park should have the following emergency numbers on hand: 086 110 6417/ 107 or 021 480 7700. Criminal incidents should be reported to the nearest police station as soon as able.
We also recommend @safetymountain as a useful resource for hikers. This free safety tracking service allows you to notify local trackers of your contact details, intended route and travel time via WhatsApp. You are then able to provide hourly updates on your progress, and to notify trackers when you are safely off the mountain.
Untouched fynbos-dotted slopes, crystal-clear rockpools and towering waterfalls… Kamikaze Canyon in the heart of The Cape Floral Kingdom is the ultimate adventure lovers’ day out.
Enjoy a jam-packed day of activities, beginning with a delicious breakfast at Sunbird Lodge in Gordon’s Bay, before embarking on a 65-metre-high waterfall abseil and adrenaline-inducing kloofing where you’ll jump up to 22 metres into the pristine pools below.
The trip sets off from Cape Town early in the morning, then, once you’ve arrived in Gordon’s Bay and fuelled up on breakfast, you’ll set out on a 30-minute hike to the first cliff-jumping pool, reaching the top of Thunder Falls 30 minutes later.
You’ll then hike down the majestic gorge to your starting point back at the lodge, where the only thing left to do is sip on hard-earned sundowners before setting off back to Cape Town.
Sometimes we just need a reminder about all the cool things to do right on our doorstep!
Good to know You will be hiking to various rock pools and abseiling, so wear appropriate shoes. Wetsuits will be provided in winter.
