Lanzerac Spa: A Five-Star Destination in the Winelands
Natural beauty and world-class amenities await…
By Inside Guide • 18 December 2025
Surrounded by verdant vineyards and ancient mountains is a place of soul-stirring serenity – and one of the oldest wine estates in Stellenbosch. Lanzerac beckons with a top-tier hotel, superb dining options, stellar wine-tasting, and the ace up its sleeve: a five-star destination spa.
Right on the edge of the vines, the spa is beautifully positioned – and can be enjoyed from the light-filled, glass-enclosed relaxation lounge, or loungers on a deck overlooking the valley, as well as the health café. It’s the perfect place to retreat to for a little loving R&R.
Top-drawer facilities

The hydrotherapy offering is particularly enticing – a mist room, steam room and sauna, two traditional rasul chambers (for Middle Eastern-style scrubs) and a large, sparkling-blue indoor heated pool with a jacuzzi on the side. One could easily while away a day here… and as a day visitor, if you book treatments worth more than R895, you can.

There are eight spacious, beautifully wallpapered, luxuriously appointed treatment rooms (including two couples’ rooms and a universal-access room), plus a NeoQi Mediq cocoon and five manicure and pedicure stations. Every inch of you, from top to toe, can be pampered and revitalised in this oasis of wellness.
Vine-inspired products

Befitting its wine-farm setting, grape-based TheraVine products are used, as well as African-inspired TheraNaka treatments. Marula, baobab, shea butter, African potato extract and rooibos feature alongside olive oil, Himalayan salt, lavender, ginger and more. Mineral-rich seawater and seaweed are also extensively used. In keeping with its beautiful location, the spa’s products are environmentally friendly too.
Global luxury

Lanzerac Spa also offers Académie’s multi-sensory treatments inspired by four evocative corners of the planet and the botanicals found there. The products include Sakura (cherry blossom) from Japan, tiare flower from the Polynesian Pacific islands, chia and papaya from the Amazon, and pine from the far northern Arctic. There’s also an Ayurvedic option taking you to the heart of India.
Tip-top treatments

The spa menu is focused on facials, body treatments and massages. Beauty rituals range from scrubs and wraps (in clay, cream or gel form), milk baths and aroma-saunas to dry-brushing, lymph drainage and vibro-massage. Complementary therapies also feature, such as pressure-point scalp massages, reflexology and micro-needling.
Whether you’re after relaxation, a circulation boost or a slimming treatment, one of the 10 massage options is sure to give you exactly what your body needs. The TheraNaka massages are especially indulgent rituals, using wooden implements or hot herbal poultices.
For facials, you’ll be spoilt for choice with three bespoke Lanzerac treatments, six Académié options and six TheraVine choices, including the top-drawer gold and diamond dust mask.
Feed your body

The spa’s Vitality Corner serves wholesome, nourishing, fresh food with a strong Asian vibe – think sushi, bao buns and potstickers, build-your-own poké bowls, rice-paper spring rolls and a sriracha wrap. The sinful-yet-saintly breakfast options include a croissant with bacon, honey, strawberries and banana; a spicy burrito with scrambled egg; and simple-but-classic smashed avo on toast.

There’s also a rainbow of freshly pressed raw juices and delectably indulgent smoothies (how about a “dirty chai” with a shot of espresso?). Of course, Lanzerac’s world-class wines are at the ready to enjoy as you wind down after your treatments.
Spa style
To extend that pampered feeling long after you leave, Lanzerac Spa’s bespoke luxury range of apparel and sleepwear is available to purchase (a gift for yourself or someone else). Made from 100% mulberry silk, the Lanzerac Silk Collection, designed by The Silk Lady includes PJs, gowns, pillowcases, sleep masks, bonnets and scarves. The Lanzerac Linen Collection features contemporary-classic shirts and gowns created by Danielle Margaux.
