They don’t call it the “Cape of Storms” for nothing. The Cape’s seabeds are littered with the bones of many a shipwreck – each of which has its own story to tell: of the people who manned it, and the era in which they lived.

Aside from providing a glimpse into history, many of these shipwrecks have become flourishing underwater worlds, where countless aquatic life forms have set up home.

Scuba-Diving into the Past

Exploring ancient wrecks has been the purview of adventurers far and wide. Fancy yourself a regular Indiana Jones or Lara Croft? This is the experience for you.
Of course, shipwrecks vary in depth from 12 to 40 metres. If you’re not keen on diving too deep, these guided tours can be customised according to your dive qualification and requirements.

There’s also the option to simply dive through the reefs and explore the flourishing floral kingdoms that inhabit the Cape’s waters (the Western Cape is the smallest complete floral kingdom in the world).
