If, like us, you fantasise about having a flourishing, produce-bearing garden (drought or not), but in reality have the blackest thumbs, these one-day workshops at Soil for Life might be just the thing to get you gardening. Called Grow to Live, the courses are aimed at aspiring and experienced gardeners alike, during which you’ll learn (or enhance) the skills needed to grow good, clean, organic produce.
Soil for Life
So what exactly is Soil for Life? It’s a nonprofit organisation based in the Constantia Valley that actively helps communities and citizens to grow healthy, organic food using low-cost and environmentally sound methods. Their speciality? Teaching people how to grow the best-quality food in a small space using healthy soils that are teeming with microbial life.
Grow to Live
Soil for Life’s Grow to Live workshops take place on select Saturday’s during the year and cost R850. Participants will learn the ins and outs of gardening, how to start their own organic patch and go home with their very own home-gardening manual.
