Win Two Nights at Yellowwood Cottage in Churchaven worth R27 000
Winner announced! Congrats to Cornelle Le Roux who won this fabulous prize.
By Inside Guide • 11 December 2025
Fynbos, flamingos and idyllic seclusion on the shores of Langebaan Lagoon are all part of the dreamy magic of Yellowwood Cottage. One of the off-grid scattering of fishermen’s cottages in Churchhaven, set deep in the West Coast National Park, it’s a soul-restoring place of salty breezes where you’ll rediscover a connection with nature… slow-living to the rhythm of sunsets and moonrises, lazy days spent dipping into the shallows or curling up with a book by the fire, flower-filled spring wanders and sun-drenched summer days.
Nature’s magic

The charming cottage is beautifully situated among the fynbos just a minute’s stroll down to the shore, its simple lines of camphor beams and screed floors framing a haven of unfussy comforts, from linen-covered sofas to original artworks and wood-burning stoves. Three double bedrooms (with ensuite bathrooms) look out over glorious lagoon views, and there’s also a kids’ bedroom with two bunk beds for family stays.
Simple living in off-grid comfort

Time slows down here with nature setting the rhythm of your days. You might see flamingos in the shallow waters, revel in carpets of colourful flowers in spring, follow tortoise trails through the fynbos and spend days between leisurely dips, birdwatching and sand-between-the-toes wanders. The simple charm of off-grid life isn’t without its comforts. The cottage is fully powered by solar for lighting and hot water, with a gas-operated hob and oven in the fully equipped kitchen. And fire-kissed feasts from the built-in braai with long sunset views over the lagoon are all part of the appeal.
If this sounds like your idea of a perfect nature-infused getaway, enter our competition below and you and your family or friends stand the chance of experiencing the Churchhaven magic for yourselves.

The West Coast National Park has been on our bucket list for years. Seeing we’re pensioners and have all the time in the world to travel, we usually book extra days to see the beauty and land diversity of the Sandvelders world. Regards Linda Kronstrom and Harry de Villiers.
