Erinvale shares its history with Vergelegen, Lourensford and Morgenster wine estates. Originally all part of a farm established by Willem Adriaan van der Stel back in 1666, they have magnificent views of the Helderberg and Hottentots-Holland Mountains, and a timeless, away-from-it-all atmosphere. The boutique property is within walking distance of the three wine estates, and directly next to the Gary Player-designed 18-hole Erinvale golf course, offering a wide choice of outdoor activities and taste sensations.

We’ll start with the delectable choice of settings in which to enjoy a meal, a celebration or a drinks gathering.

The Oak Terrace does laidback flavour-filled bistro-style lunches under the trees and casual dinners under the stars – from tempura hake and peri-peri chicken to Neopolitan-style pizza, steaks and tapas. In winter, the logfire inside the Bistro creates an equally wonderful ambience and keeps diners cosy. It’s also the scene of the hotel’s daily breakfast, including eggs Benedict and croissants.

Indulge in a menu inspired by local flavours – from smoked trout roulades, BLT “oopsies” and chicken liver parfait to mini scones, rooibos and berry cheesecake, and Peppermint Crisp macarons – nostalgic classics reimagined for a celebratory sense of occasion. Wine-lovers unite

Of course, you’re in the midst of the Cape Winelands, with any number of estates and top wineries close by for exploring. A selection of wines can be enjoyed any time in the hotel’s eateries, but Erinvale adds a little something extra, too, with exclusive monthly events that bring the best wines to you to explore them on a deeper level.

The Wine Society

It meets once a month and features three different winemakers (from the world-famous to the small-batch), who share their experiences and their chosen wines in a relaxed atmosphere, along with a selection of delicious sharing-plate cuisine.

Taste the Helderberg

Taste your way around this appealing corner of the Winelands with a voucher that takes you on a palate-delighting odyssey of wine, olive oil, beer and coffee tastings at neighbouring Vergelegen, Morgenster and Lourensford estates. Destination spa

The recently reimagined Erinvale Spa is a sanctuary of relaxation and pampering, featuring four luxe treatment rooms (fitted with top-of-the-range massage beds), a dedicated scrub room for body treatments, a Thermal Suite with sauna and steam room, plus the centrepiece 25-metre outdoor lap pool surrounded by loungers, with majestic mountain views.

Follow a pamper session with a meal at the spa’s new dedicated eatery, the Jasmine Terrace, which serves appropriately healthy but delicious food (but also cocktails, bubbly and wine).
