Offering 360-degree panoramas of mountains, vineyards and the glistening Atlantic Ocean, this relaxed restaurant in Noordhoek makes for a beautiful day out.
If you’re someone who prizes a restaurant’s setting and ambience as crucial elements in a restaurant’s overall dining experience, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a location that rivals Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhoek. With panoramas of verdant vineyards, fynbos-covered mountains, and the glistening Atlantic Ocean, the estate’s unfathomably beautiful natural surrounds create a sense of serene seclusion.

That’s not to say the food isn’t worth a mention as well. Executive chef Jonathan Gargan (formerly of One&Only Cape Town) oversees a seasonally driven à la carte menu offering a range of fresh seafood and game dishes. On the starters menu, you’ll find items such as wood-fired baked butternut risotto with shaved Parmesan and sage olive oil; and soft shell crab with yuzu mayo, pickled ginger and toasted nori.
Main dishes include North African-spiced springbok with pine-nut couscous, fried cauliflower, peach chutney and mint and coriander yoghurt; and the Long Beach seafood platter, which consists of linefish, white-wine mussels, calamari, tiger prawns, baby potatoes and a garden salad.
Naturally, the food is accompanied by an extensive winelist that includes Cape Point Vineyards’ own range.
The restaurant is also open for breakfast – from 8am to 11am daily – offering either a classic country-style plate (scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, roast vine tomatoes, rocket and Parmesan on chargrilled ciabatta) and American-style pancakes (with summer berries, vanilla-bean cream, organic maple syrup and pecan-nut crumble).
On warm days, guests usually flock to the deck overlooking the lawns where the popular Cape Point Vineyards Market takes place, but when there’s a nip in the air, the cosy indoor fireplace is the only place to be, while children run free on the estate’s expansive lawns.
It’s a family-friendly excursion that truly showcases the best of what the seaside village of Noordhoek has to offer.
