Guardian Peak Winery & Grill: Simply Delicious Spring Flavours on a Stellenbosch Hillside
Approachable bistro dining with spectacular Winelands views.
By Inside Guide • 11 September 2025
Overlooking a picture-perfect slice of the Stellenbosch Winelands, with views towards the towering peak in the Jonkershoek mountains that gave the wine farm its name, Guardian Peak winery has nailed the recipe for easygoing country dining. Relaxed but refined, their philosophy is that wine and food should be enjoyed together, so their approachable, sustainable, everyday-drinking wines are presented without fanfare, but with friendly, informed service in the restaurant setting, where the panoramic views are all part of the experience.
What’s on Guardian Peak’s summer table?

As the seasons change, so does Guardian Peak’s menu, which is created with the property’s wines in mind. As spring turns to summer and the vineyards burst back into life, chef Willie Mostert has added fresh and bright dishes for lingering lunches and sundowner dinners… Seared venison carpaccio with blueberries and balsamic glaze, Saldanha Bay mussels in white wine and garlic, curried lamb spring rolls, or basil pesto penne with pancetta and peas. And, of course, there’s always steak (cooked to perfection), the signature Guardian Peak burger with bacon and cheddar, and starring on the starters menu, the grilled venison and apricot conserve sosaties with Cape Malay curry yoghurt. Not to mention lamb chops from the grill, substantial salads and a creamy risotto. Perennial favourites from the dessert menu are the crème brûlée, dark chocolate fondant and a lush pecan and caramel cheesecake.
Taste Stellenbosch special

For the month of September as part of the Taste Stellenbosch campaign, you can taste the flavours of the region for a whole lot less in a two-course meal for two with wine. Choose between a 250g sirloin with salad and chips, or a Cape Malay chicken curry with basmati rice and sambals. And finish with either crème brûlée, or a peanut butter and banana baked pudding.
Cost R600 for two (2 courses + bottle of Guardian Peak wine)
Available 1 – 30 September 2025 (Monday – Thursday, lunch + dinner)
