The lowdown A chance for bookworms, poetry lovers and comic fans to learn from – and meet – local and international poets, novelists and comic-book creators. Come and be inspired at this delightfully entertaining book festival. In addition to paid events, there are a range of free events, but you’ll need to book tickets to secure a spot.

The lowdown This year’s show – themed a Carnival of Flowers – celebrates 102 years! Wolfkop Weekender: Power Flower Picnic 2019

!Khwa Ttu Heritage Festival 2019

Where Yzerfontein
When 21 – 24 September 2019
The lowdown !Khwa Ttu is hosting a four-day festival at its camping and adventure ground on the West Coast. In honour of Heritage month, the event is dedicated to South Africa’s earliest known inhabitants. Festival-goers will have an opportunity to learn more about San culture through language lessons and talks, and there’ll be food stalls, pop-up food demonstrations, tea tastings, and an array of fun activities for children (including treasure hunts, traditional story-telling, tractor rides, and more)!
Good to know For those wishing to immerse themselves in the West Coast way, there will be 50 sites available in !Khwa Ttu’s camping village.

Whale Week at The Marine 2019

The lowdown This precursor to the Hermanus Whale Festival is a sumptuous celebration of whale season that takes place at The Marine in Hermanus, an Eco-Marine partner of the famous Whale Festival. Guests can look forward to a week of inspiring talks, high tea, a sea-facing seven-course dinner prepared by Greenhouse chef Farrel Hirsch, and even a Whale Bell unveiling at this five-star hotel on the cliff path.
