Developed a passion for the culinary craft in his moms vegetable garden and kitchen at a young age. Trained at Elsa van der Nest Culinary Academy. Got his first job at Five Flies Restaurant & Bar in Cape Town, followed by a stint at two Michelin-starred Pied à Terre in London.
Travelled and worked at various restaurants across the world, including Noma in Copenhagen,
Per Se in USA, Olympe in Brazil, Ciel Bleu in Amsterdam, Ikarus in Salzburg, and Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek (under chef Margot Janse) before becoming head chef at Pierneef à la Motte.
Launched Foliage – a restaurant specialising in dishes prepared with freshly foraged ingredients – with his wife, Alisha, in 2014.
