In addition to the rugged landscapes and flower fields on your doorstep, the reserve is home to a variety of animal life, such as duikers, porcupine and tortoises – and, if you’re really lucky, you may even spot a leopard skulking along the mountain track.

These pre-pitched tents on the banks of the Olifants River are connected to the water via wooden walkways. Each six-sleeper villa boasts its own four-poster floating jetty for easy access to the river below, and a view-drenched hot tub looking out to the mountains beyond.

Each of the riverside camping villages (Biesievlak, Grootfontein and Golden Valley) have wifi in addition to stunning mountainscapes, so you could quite easily work remotely if you so desired… What’s more, the tents are erected on your behalf, saving you the trouble of lugging around heavy camping gear and making for a more comfortable camping adventure that borders on glamping.
