Brought to you by Matt Manning, chef-patron of the wildly popular Grub & Vine bistro on Bree Street, this cool and contemporary Chef’s Studio is neatly housed on the second floor of the same building as his restaurant.
UK-born Matt, who cut his teeth in Michelin-starred restaurants under the likes of Marcus Wareing and superstar celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, conceived of the studio as a space to host these engaging and interactive cooking classes.
Guided by either Matt or a consummate guest chef, the classes allow participants to assist in the preparation of multi-course gourmet meals, during which they’ll gain fresh, new insights into the art of cooking, and pick up some nifty tricks of the trade. And, once preparation is complete, guests get to sit down and enjoy the fruits of their labour.
How to Cook
Inspired by Matt’s Travels, the How to Cook Masterclasses take participants around the globe, where you’ll learn how to prepare dishes from various cultures and capitals. The series kicked off with Barcelona (in April), followed by Greece (in May), while June pays homage to London, the capital of Matt’s motherland and undoubtedly one of the culinary capitals of the world. London’s appeal is its variety, where you’ll find everything from the world’s finest restaurants to hole-in-the-wall fish-and-chip joints, farmers’ markets and modern gastropubs.
Matt aims to dispel the tired clichés (and unhealthy connotations) of traditional English cooking to rather showcase an array of contemporary dishes and flavours inspired by his travels on the tube! You’ll learn how to prepare a menu fit for the Queen, complete with Scotch egg, roast rib-eye and sticky toffee pudding – among other dishes.
