Kirstenbosch Canopy Walk

More than just a traditional boardwalk, the Boomslang canopy walk at Kirstenbosch Gardens offers unique perspectives of the gardens.

Kirstenbosch’s winding walkway, affectionately known as the boomslang, starts at ground level and extends high above the treetops, offering stunning views of Table Mountain and lesser-seen parts of the city.

The timber-and-steel walkway is around 130-metres long and is wheelchair-friendly. Nature lovers will enjoy the unique vantage point from above the crowns of the trees, and bird and animal enthusiasts will be seventh heaven, with the diverse fauna that abounds.

The walkway is roughly crescent-shaped, with the ends reconnecting in two different places in Kirstenbosch’s arboretum, and takes as long as you want it to. Start early and enjoy coffee or breakfast at one of the restaurants or coffee shops afterwards.
