Rhebokskloof Full-Moon Hike: Wine, Snacks + Sunset Views

Rhebokskloof Full Moon Hike

An after-dark Winelands affair.

Glittering lights, a large silvery moon and the thrill of being in nature after dark… Sign up for Rhebokskloof’s popular full-moon hikes and you’ll get to explore the mountains around Paarl in the company of an Adventure Trails guide, and maybe even spot a few nocturnal animals.

Rhebokskloof Estate is well-known for its network of stunning trails. They open first thing in the morning for walkers, runners and bikers to get their fix, but exclusive night-time access is only possible on one of these monthly hikes.

Up, up and away

Rhebokskloof Full Moon Hike

Setting off just before sunset, the route winds up to the perfect perch, just in time to watch the moon rise – so close you can almost reach out and touch it. The Flatrock Viewpoint offers a 360-degree panorama, taking in the Du Toitskloof Mountains, the towns of the Winelands, and Rheboksloof’s vineyards and dams, bathed in magical moonlight.

Rhebokskloof Full Moon Hike Drinks

Flatrock is the perfect spot to lay out a sundowner spread of tasty treats – burritos, sourdough sandwiches, sliders, mini quiches and chicken lollipops, supplied by Rhebokskloof’s kitchen – which you can enjoy with your choice of wine or soft drink. There could be a wine no more perfect for the setting than a chilled Flatrock Sparkle or Chenin Blanc, but the choice includes reds too.

You’ll get to linger up here for a couple of hours, enjoying the fresh air, night sounds and spectacular views from 400 metres up, before making your way back to the real world. It’s the ideal activity to share with your friends, family or loved one. Of course, solo hikers are welcome too as they’ll find themselves in good company.
