Camps Bay Social Club – I just had to share that Camps Bay Social Club is incredibly dog-friendly! 🐾 They welcome pups with open arms, making it a fantastic spot for those who love dining out with their furry friends. Plus, there are sports grounds nearby for your dog to run around and play, and being off the main strip of Camps Bay makes it a safe spot for everyone. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is super accommodating. Definitely a must-visit for dog owners

It turns out Root 44 is NOT really DOG FRIENDLY. (Or perhaps they just discriminate against single people with dogs.) Big sign in the parking area saying dogs on leash welcome, but this morning while standing in the queue for coffee (with my dog, on leash, sitting next to me), I was informed that my dog is not allowed in the food tent. The only way to purchase any food and drink is from inside the food tent. Please be aware of the fine print when you plan to go to Root 44.

Dogs allowed outside at Root 44.
Not amongst the food stalls but someone can go and order and you can sit outside in the grass or amongst the trees

There is a difference between accepting dogs, and dog FRIENDLY! We have 2 Jack Russells (!!), so we love to find places where they can actually run around and get rid of some energy.

I can second Southey’s in Somerset West – there is a grassy play park area for the kids, so if the dogs are child-friendly then they can play with the kids.
Eagle’s Nest on the Constantia Wine Route is also great – rolling lawns to play, as well as Warwick Wine Farm in Stellenbosch.
Blue Peter in Blouberg also has a lot of furry friend visitors – especially on Sundays. There is a lawn but it’s open onto the road (wish they would put a small gate up).

    🙂

Con Brio Bistro on Deer Park Drive, Vredehoek is super doggy friendly and the food is delicious, too! They have a great little undercover area which is technically “outside”, but so well covered and with a toasty heater to keep you and your fur-baby warm. Honestly, it’s so much better than be chucked outside to freeze just because you have a dog with you. Plus they have really good winter specials, something like R150 for a 2 course meal and R180 for a 3 courselves meal. Highly recommend the B.A.F. pizza, so yummy! Anyway, this is my favourite place for a yummy, cosy Cape Town winter with my doggies. 🙂

Had a recent very Un-pet friendly experience at cafe paradiso a few weeks ago. No suitable water bowls available and staff scared of dogs. NOT RECOMMENDED for dogs. Management completely arrogant about it. Big pity.

Gosh only one spot in the winelands?! We recently took our puppy to Southeys in Somerset West, which has a lovely outdoor play area for kids. We weren’t certain whether they allowed dogs but they welcomed us. We also spotted regulars who had also brought their dog.
