Killarney Motor Show

When 1 November 2026
The lowdown More than 1 500 cars on show (from 19th-century steam machines to midcentury classics and the latest models) is just the start… This motor show immerses you in the action – ride along in a drift car or in a 4×4 on the extreme offroad course; race on the karting circuit; take a flip in a helicopter; watch incredible stunts and spinning action; enjoy the fun fair rides, bumper cars and snake show. There’s also live music, delicious food stalls, and a market for memorabilia and the latest automotive accessories. VIP tickets give you access to the exclusive lounge and complimentary food and drinks.
Good to know There’s free onsite parking, and shuttles from the Bayside MyCiti bus station.

Steenberg Comedy Night

When 5 November 2026
The lowdown Surrounded by heritage buildings and majestic oak trees backed by mountain vistas, the historic werf area at Steenberg is the setting for an alfresco summer comedy night featuring a star-studded line-up: award-winning comedian Yaaseen Barnes; internationally touring comedian and broadcaster Dalin Oliver; acclaimed comedian and writer KG Mokgadi; and Cape Town singer, skit-maker and musical comedian Waseem Fredericks. You can come just for the show, but making a night of it with a summer picnic blanket spread on the lawns and an overflowing basket of goodies, or a table on the Tryn terrace and a three-course feast, adds another layer of enjoyment to the evening.

Silo Sunset Concert

When 6 November
The lowdown The Waterfront’s vibrant Silo District, home to restaurants, boutiques and the magnificent Zeitz MOCAA art museum, is the perfect backdrop for open-air sundowner concerts on First Fridays. This month, the 18-piece Swing All Stars Big Band led by Mike Campbell takes the stage, and the square will transform into an open-air dance floor, energised by the uplifting sounds of the 1930s, 40s and 50s (the perfect excuse to dress retro!).
Good to know Get there a little earlier to enjoy a free swing dance class.

Tastes Of Our Valleys

The lowdown The glorious gardens of The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel are the setting for an iconic wine-tasting “travel” experience: the wines of three distinct Cape regions, representing the locations of the McGrath Collection hotels. Enjoy hand-picked vintages from the historic Constantia Valley, the cool-climate Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus and the coastal terroir of Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. The lowdown The holidays and festive season will be here soon, and Stellenbosch’s acclaimed cap classique producer is celebrating early. Join the Grier family for a sparkling day of fine wines, music and food stalls under the oaks. Plus the estate is known for its 230-hectare wildlife sanctuary, so game drives are included. The dress code is “Safari Chic” and your ticket includes unlimited tastings (12pm – 2pm). Try a dozen bubblies, along with the aromatic Jasmine white blend, barrel-fermented chenin blanc and iconic Monro merlot. Italy In Town

When 21 + 22 November 2026
The lowdown Two courtyards in the oldest building in town will be transformed into a vibrant Italian piazza for a weekend. Think wood-fired pizzas, espresso, gelato, cannoli, aperitivo, vino and music (from opera to folk to pop to DJ Moran). Watch pasta-making and chefs’ demos, move between winetasting tables at your leisure, and browse an artisan market filled with Italian-inspired fashion, homeware, lifestyle and deli items. From Hanover Street

When 24 – 29 November 2026
The lowdown David Kramer digs back into the treasure trove of memories connected to the music and stories of Cape Town’s District Six, this time collaborating with “The Broetjies” – Jody Abrahams, Alistair Izobell and Emo and Loukmaan Adams. Each of these performers started their professional theatre career at age nine in District Six: The Musical, created by Kramer and the late Taliep Petersen. Decades later, they are working together again. The show features songs from that musical as well as Fairyland and Kat & the Kings. Not only a 60-year celebration of the music, humour and spirit of the place, it’s also an important slice of history.

Best Day Out

When 28 November 2026
The lowdown The idea is simple but irresistible… Chilling out on the grass under the trees in the city’s most beautiful public park. The soundtrack provided by live bands and DJs; the snacks and refreshments from local food trucks, eateries and craft-drink purveyors; local makers selling their cool stuff at stalls. Plus lawn games and other interactive activities to amuse you, and a dedicated play area for the kids. Best Day Out is a creative collaboration with Mission for the Inner City – and let’s just say, it’s now become the unofficial start to “summer in the city”.

Taste of Cape Town

The lowdown Some of the Mother City’s top restaurants (whose reservations wait-lists can extend to six weeks) and new culinary stars converge in one place for one weekend to serve their signature and festival-exclusive dishes. Plus those same chefs give masterclasses. Think James Gaag (La Colombe), Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss (FYN), Arlind Harizaj (Amura), Bertus Basson, Vusi Ndlovu (EDGE Africa), Amori Burger (Upper Union), and Vuur’s James Scrooby… There’s plenty more on the menu, with five zones to explore, live acoustic music, fire-cooked food, winemakers chatting and pouring, brand activations, artisan showcases and brilliant pairings.

Potters Market

When 28 + 29 November 2026
The lowdown The Rondebosch Potters Market has been an icon of Cape Town’s craft scene for five decades, a twice-yearly gathering of over 100 ceramicists, clay artists and sculptors. It’s now moved to Constantia, as a pop-up at the Alphen Market. Expect a dazzling display of exquisite earthenware to buy directly from source. From established masters to up-and-coming names and community projects, you’ll find everything from hand-thrown bowls, mugs and jugs to fantasy objets, as well as raku, sgraffito, pit-fired and other techniques. Enter the Tombola draw to win a donated work (proceeds go to Ceramics Western Cape’s Benevolent Fund).
Good to know Food stalls are dotted around the park, and pooches are welcome. Vendors accept card payments and Snapscan, but bring cash in case of network signal issues.

Kirstenbosch Concert: Leon Bridges + Msaki

When 30 November 2026
The lowdown Grammy-winning R&B, retro-soul and blues singer Leon Bridges is the first of several international artists who will perform on Kirstenbosch’s outdoor stage this season. Part of his “The Happiness Anytime Tour”, he’ll be bringing all his hits and new material. The support act is genre-defying SA songstress Msaki, with her signature blend of Afro-folk, soul, house and amapiano. The Sunset Concerts at Kirstenbosch are one of the best ways to end a summer’s day in Cape Town – with a picnic on the lawns and live music, against a beautiful backdrop. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, but there are also food trucks on site.
Good to know Keep an eye out for the big reveal of the full 2026/2027 season lineup of Sunday concerts. Tickets for Live (8 + 9 December), Jack White (14 December) and Dave Koz + Chris Walker (23 January 2027), Icelandic rock band Kaleo (4 February) and German duo Real Feelings (28 February 2027) are on sale now.

Blueberry Bar

When Now until end-December/early January
The lowdown Summer means it’s blueberry season! Hop on the tractor at Sonop Farm, then take a stroll in the orchards, bucket in hand, and pick fresh, juicy berries straight from the bush. At the kiosk, you’ll find more treats to take home: blueberry jam, dark-chocolate-coated berries and blueberry juice. There’s also a juice tasting (mixed with anything from beetroot and Cape gooseberries to pomegranates, lime and chilli), plus coffee and other snacks.
